Lawrence Searcy Egger, Sr., 88 of Caledonia, MS passed away Thursday, June 18, 2015 at Windsor Place, Columbus, MS. A memorial service will be Saturday, June 20, 2015 at 10:00 am in the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel, Columbus, MS. Lowndes Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mr. Egger was born November 24, 1926 to the late Leonard Searcy Egger and Maggie Will Ussery Egger in Caledonia, MS. He was a member of the Methodist church, American Legion and VFW. Mr. Egger served in World War II was a Merchant Marine and then joined the United States Army and served as a Technical Sergeant and Medic in the Korean War. He was assistant fire chief at Columbus Air Force Base for 15 years. Mr. Egger was also a retired farmer. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, barbequing and gardening. Mr. Egger was a member of the Caledonia baseball team; his team members included Charlie Wheeler, JT Conner, Mack Egger, Harry Greene, Jep Vaughn, Horris Freeman, Thomas Williams, and Clay Shephard. In addition to his parents, Mr. Egger was preceded in death by his wife Sara Egger, brothers, Crawford Egger and Jack Egger, sisters, Marguerite Egger Tennille and Annie Ruth Egger Strawbridge. Mr. Egger is survived by his son - Lawrence S. "Skip" Egger, Jr. Caledonia, MS. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Duncan, Douglas Holliman, Dale Parra, S.L. Parra, Mack Egger, Bud Egger, Dr. Brett Brown, Kenneth Pounders, Bobby Egger, Tony Gallop, Kevin Gallop, Bill Guin, Bill Lawrence, Tommy Whitley, RJ Jacobs, George Galjour, Dr. Chris Galjour and Rep.
