Lawrence (Larry) Joseph Parker 78, of Columbus, MS, passed away Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at his residence.
Memorial Visitation will be Monday, July 3, 2023, from 10:00 AM- 11:00 AM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Memorial Service will be Monday, July 3, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel, Columbus, MS with Chaplain (CDR) Christopher J. West, USN officiating. Graveside, with military funeral honors, will follow at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Sturgis, MS.
Mr. Parker was born August 10, 1944, in Lorain, OH, to the late Frank Parker and Molly Hlebcar Campbell. Mr. Parker met the love of his life, Jean Jackson Parker, while stationed at Columbus Air Force Base. He was a Vietnam Veteran, mechanic, and tail gunner on a B-52 during the war. He was highly regarded and respected for his intelligence in the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry. Mr. Parker enjoyed playing golf, fishing, hunting, and spending time with family. He loved going on golf trips and playing golf every day with his "podnas'. Mr. Parker loved his faithful canine companion, Cricket. He was preceded in death by his father- Frank Parker and his parents- Molly (Eugene) Campbell.
Mr. Parker is survived by his wife- Jean Jackson Parker; daughter- Kelly (David) Hollowell; son- Brad (Lynsey) Parker; grandchildren- Jack Parker, Leah Kate Parker, and Jorden (Carly) Hollowell; sisters- Cindy (Tim) Mahl, Lynn (Jeff) Harris; and brother- Jim (Betsy) Parker.
Pallbearers will be Albert McBrayer, George Hinnant,Mark Randle,Henry McQueen,Hubert Perkins,Jim House,Jerry Sharpe,Paul Stuart,Bryan Walker, Dr. Gerry Turner, and Bob Manley.
