Obituary

Otis Leon Winter, 74 of Caledonia, MS passed away Friday, November 16, 2012 at his residence. Visitation was Sunday, November 18, 2012 from 2-3 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Funeral services followed at 3pm Sunday, November 18, 2012 at Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel with Randy Holmes officiating and Mike Dalton assisting. Intermet was at Furnace Hill Cemetery, Vernon, AL with Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS directing. Mr. Winter was born May 29, 1938 in Moyers, OK to the late Otis Preston and Mary Severe Sigler Winter. He was a resident of California for more than forty years, then moved to Kansas, and has resided in Columbus, MS for the past twelve years. Mr. Winter was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He retired from Prestridge Farms in the year 2003, where he worked as a A.I. Specialist. For the last three years has has worked for Walmart. He was a member of Open Door Church, Caledonia, MS. Mr. Winter loved to play his quitar at Church and at the Little Opera House. Mr. Winter is survived by his wife of 37 yrs.– Dixie Winter of Caledonia, MS, daughter- Roxanne McMillian of California. Brother- Jerry Winter of California, sister - Harriet Zornes of California, other family members- Roger Jink and Bobbi Jo Winter, 17 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Pallbearers are Roger Jink and the men of Caledonia Open Door Worship Center. Honorary Pallbearers are Dakota Jacob Chamu-Winter and Ozdon Leon Winter.
