Leonard Newman, age 86, passed away on Saturday, February 17, 2018, surrounded by his loving family.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 21, 2018, from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. A funeral service will follow on Wednesday, February 21, 2018, at 11:00 AM in the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Walter Butler officiating. Interment will be at Andrews Chapel Cemetery, Ethelsville, AL with Lowndes Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Newman was born on April 27, 1931, in Alabama to the late Rhodia Bell Linley. He was a lifetime member of the VFW, American Legion, and the Disabled American Veterans. Mr. Newman loved his family dearly and loved going fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed wood crafts. He loved his life and his favorite place was being at home. Leonard will be greatly missed by his loving family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers- Alphas Newman and Louis Newman.

Mr. Newman is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years- Bobbie Newman, a daughter who adored him- Dorothy Nevin of Columbus, MS, a son and daughter-in-law- Ronnie and Vicki Newman of Lenior City, TN, two grandchildren- his grandson he worshiped- Kevin McWilliams, wife Brittany of Columbus, MS, and granddaughter- Kristy McWilliams, four great-grandchildren- Alexis McCranie, Preslee McWilliams, Summer Cutrer, and Issac Barkley, one brother- James Newman, two sisters- Faye Smith and Selma Gilmore, numerous nieces and nephews, and 3 beloved Chihuahuas who he loved dearly- Katie, Peanut, and Bella.

Pallbearers will be Eddie Pennington, Henry Thrower, Tommy McWilliams, Gary Smith, Marty Stillman, and Arnell Brown.
