Obituary

Lewis Stillman "Bobby" Jaynes, 85 of Columbus, MS passed away, Sunday, August 14, 2016 at his residence.

Visitation will be Wednesday, August 17, 2016, from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM at Fairview Baptist Church, Columbus, MS.  Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM at Fairview Baptist Church with Fire Department Chaplain, Ed Maurer, and Bro. Shawn McDaniel and Bro. Jimmy Ray officiating..  Interment will be in Ethelsville Baptist Church, Ethelsville, AL with Lowndes Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Jaynes was born September 30, 1930 to the late Andrew Leander and Mary Ellen Burgess Jaynes in Ethelsville, AL and moved to Columbus, MS 53 years ago.  He retired from the City of Columbus as a firefighter in 1993 after 26 years of service and worked for Sunflower Grocery for 47 years.  Mr. Jaynes was a member of Fairview Baptist Church, Columbus, MS.  He was a veteran of the United States Air Force.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Jaynes was preceded in death by three brothers, Laverne Jaynes, Boyd Jaynes and Larry Jaynes, two sisters – Hortense Lollar and Margie Brooks.

Mr. Jaynes is survived by his wife of 60 years – Vivydean Jaynes, Columbus, MS; daughter – Starlo (Mark) Flanagin, Columbus, MS; son – Chad (Tammy) Jaynes, Chattanooga, TN; three granddaughters – Brook (Jared) Louviere, Markie (Chris) Gustine and Ellie Jaynes.  Six great-grandchildren – Kinsey and Bryce Louviere, Rivers, Porter, Harrison and Huntly Gustine; brother – Charles (Ann) Jaynes, Birmingham, AL; sister – Doris (Jerry) Neal, Birmingham, AL; best friend and brother-in-law – Ivy (Ann) Knight.

Pallbearers will be Donald Harrington, Bobby Coward, Jared Louviere, Chris Gustine, Hank Duncan, Mike Jaynes, Tim Knight, Ivyloy Knight, Jr.  Honorary pallbearers are James Oliver Sunday School Class at Fairview Baptist Church, Retired Fireman and Employees of Sunflower, Tim Williams, Keith Parrish, Cecil Berry, Roland Hill, Charles McKellar, Richard Stripling, Bobby Gail, Donald Ward, and dear friend Ms Pat McCardy.
