Lexie Ann Reynolds Wright Speed, 66 of Caledonia, MS passed away Saturday, September 19, 2015, at Baptist Memorial Hospital - Golden Triangle, Columbus, MS. Visitation will be Monday, September 21, 2015, from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. A funeral service will be Tuesday, September 22, 2015, at 11:00 AM in the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Randy Holmes officiating and Bro. Mike Dalton assisting. Interment will be in Vaughn Cemetery, Steens, and MS with Lowndes Funeral Home directing. Mrs. Speed was born June 5, 1949, to David M. Reynolds and the late Louise Duke Reynolds in Starkville, MS. She was a member of the Caledonia United Methodist Church, Caledonia, MS. Mrs. Speed received a bachelor's degree from Mississippi State University. With a lifelong passion for educating young minds, she served as a teacher for over 30 years, retiring from Mississippi Public Schools after 26 years then teaching another 4 years in private schools. She sparked the imaginations of and impacted the lives of many 4th grade learners. In her spare time, she was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening. In addition to her mother, Mrs. Speed was preceded in death by her daughter - Dawn Wright. While she was loved and will be missed, she is at peace with her Heavenly Father and those who preceded her in death. Mrs. Speed was devoted to her family and is survived by her husband Gary Don Speed, Caledonia, MS; sons - Shannon (Tiffany) Wright, Caledonia, MS and Jason Wright, Foley, AL; step-daughters - Molly (Carlos) Arcia, Tampa, FL, and Mandy (Eileen) Speed, Seattle, WA grandchildren - Noah Wright, Drew Wright and Brody Wright, step-grandchildren - Hannah Hamburg, Gage Hamburg, Andrea Arcia and Stella Speed-Petralia; father David M. Reynolds; sister - Ginger (Stanley) Kornegay, Starkville, MS and brother - David A. (Barbara) Reynolds, Lamar, MS; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Todd Warren, Jacob Stapp, Sam Pounders and Melvin Reynolds, Josh Gilmore, and Mark Gibson.
