Lila “Jean” Brown, 91, of Columbus, MS, passed away on Friday, May 1, 2026, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle in Columbus, MS.
A graveside Service will be held Friday, May 8, 2026, at 2:00 P.M. at Springhill Cemetery on County Road 459 in Lafayette County.
Mrs. Jean Brown was born February 28, 1935, in Springhill Community in Lafayette County to the late Cornish B. White and Cornez Ratliff White. She graduated as Valedictorian from Toccopola High School in 1953. Mrs. Brown later worked as a bookkeeper for many years for Dairy Fresh Corporation and Corbell Oil Company. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Brown is preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Brown, brother, Jack White, and a beloved cousin who was like a sister, Shirley Bishop Coleman.
Mrs. Brown is survived by her children- Angie Whitaker (Jeff) of Aberdeen, MS, Becky Kelley (Jay) of Vance, Alabama, Joel Fuller (Deana Newell Fuller) of Columbus, MS, and Dr. SuzAnne Brown Liddell (Todd) of Oxford, MS; grandchildren- Shay Pierce (Elaina), Wyatt Jenkins (Samantha), Neely Hartleroad (Max), and Katherine Jean Kelley; great grandchildren- Kelsie Pierce, Rivers Pierce, Maddox Jenkins, Mac Jenkins, Laney Karg; and one great great grandchild, Lila Shay Pierce; brother, Cornish Reed White (Pat) from Memphis, Tennessee, and several nieces and nephews.
