Lillie Lavinia Boykin Chestnutt, age 77, passed away Friday, February 16, 2018, at her residence.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 21, 2017, from 1:00 – 2:00 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. A funeral service will follow on Wednesday, February 21, 2018, at 2:00 PM in the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jimmy Ray officiating. Interment will be at Friendship Cemetery, Columbus, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home directing.

Ms. Chestnutt was born on September 1, 1940, in Louisiana to the late Winston and Della Boykin. She worked as a nurse for many years. Ms. Chestnutt loved gardening, staining glass, painting, and cake decorating, cooking, and styling hair. She really enjoyed many hobbies. Ms. Chestnutt loved her two sons, her grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren with all her heart. She also enjoyed the occasional fine dining when she could. Ms. Chestnutt was a dedicated churchgoer. She also loved bright colors, they made her heart happy.

Ms. Chestnutt is survived by her two sons- Jim (Kelly) Chestnutt of Salina, KS and Michael (Dawn) Chestnutt of Cheyenne, WY; 3 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; brother- Burley Boykin of Everett, WA; and sister- Nonnie Stearns of Brandon, MS.
