Linda Diane Young Speed, 77 of Steens, MS passed away Thursday, November 12, 2020 at DCH Medical Center, Tuscaloosa, AL.

Visitation will be Monday, November 16, 2020 from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM at Steens Church of Christ, Steens, MS.  A memorial service will follow at 12:00 PM with Mr. Tim Gentle, officiating and Mr. Charles Wyckoff assisting. Lowndes Funeral Home assisting with arrangements.

Mrs. Speed was born September 24, 1943 to the late Smith and Amy Josephine Houston Young in Mobile, AL.  She lived in Steens, MS for the past 58 years and retired in 2015 from the Lowndes County Chancery Clerks office where she was a deputy clerk for more than 32 years.  Mrs Speed was a member of Steens Church of Christ, was an avid reader, and enjoyed gardening, sewing and doing crossword puzzles.  She loved her family and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Speed was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters – Phillip Young, Donald Young, Smith Young, Jr., John Delbert Young, Mary McLemore and Cleo Young.

Mrs. Speed is survived by her husband – Harold P. Speed, Steens, MS; son – Mitchell Harold (Beverly) Speed; daughter – Diane Speed Johnson; grandchildren – Hannah Porter, John Michael Stone, Amy Houston Holdren, Chance Speed, Millie Speed, Lindsey Jo Speed and Jackson Speed; great-grandchildren – Ryleigh Walters, Anna Leigh Walters, Jax Walters, Paisley Stone and Payton Stone.

Honorary pallbearers will be John Michael Stone, Chance Speed, Jackson Speed, Bobby Hudson, Pete Bowen, Jim Crownover, Ronnie McDaniel and Lee Watts.
