Locke M Boyd

Locke “Sonny” Boyd, III, 84, of Columbus, MS, passed away Friday, December 26, 2025, at his residence.

A funeral service will be on Monday, December 29, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Columbus, MS. A private burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Columbus, MS, with Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS, directing.

Mr. Boyd was born August 2, 1941, to the late Locke Boyd, Jr. and Freida Marie Taylor Boyd in Columbus, MS. He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and led a Sunday Night Discipleship Group for many years. Mr. Boyd served in the US Navy aboard the USS Oriskany during the Vietnam Era. He owned and operated Boyd’s TV and VCR Repair for many years, and later in life, he enjoyed watching golf on TV. In addition to his parents, Mr. Boyd is preceded in death by his son Locke “Bo” Boyd, IV, and his sister- Billie Joan McCraw.

Mr. Boyd is survived by his wife, whom he loved dearly for over 65 years- Gail Franks Boyd; daughter- Shannon (Patrick) Pearson; sons- Dane (Angela) Boyd, Kip Boyd; grandchildren- Cory Pearson, Patrick Pearson, Skylar Brandon, Bo Pearson, Kasey Homan, Ashley Parsons, Aaron Boyd, Adam Boyd, Austin Boyd; 13 great grandchildren; brother- Larry (Linda) Boyd and sister- Patricia (Alex) Wagers.
