Lon Freamon Clemmons, 91, of Columbus, MS passed away Saturday, October 03, 2015, at Baptist Memorial Hospital- GT. Visitation will be Sunday, October 4, 2015, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Funeral services will be Monday, October 5, 2015, at 2:00 PM at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Columbus, MS, with Bro. Steve Lammons officiating and Mr. Ray Crane assisting. Interment will be in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery, Columbus, MS, with Lowndes Funeral Home directing. Mr. Clemmons was born January 5, 1924, in Pickens County, AL to the late Florence Harrell Clemmons and William Edward Clemmons. He married his wife of 68 years, Naomi Fulgham, on May 1, 1947, in Columbus, MS. Mr. Clemmons was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church for 60+ years and the American Legion Post #69 and VFW. He served in the United States Army as a Corporal with specialty in Amphibious Transportation during World War II in Guadalcanal and received a Good Conduct Medal and World War II Victory Medal. Mr. Clemmons worked at Seminole Manufacturing for 44 years as a Sewing Machine Mechanic. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brothers- Von Breamon Clemmons and Will Earl Clemmons. Mr. Clemmons is survived by his wife- Naomi Fulgham Clemmons, Columbus, MS; daughter- Sandra (Ken) Custard, Columbus, MS; son- Lon Wayne Clemmons, Columbus, MS; grandchildren- Monica (Terry) McCroskey, Bristol, TN, Sean Clemmons, Columbus, MS, Brian (Tiffany) Custard, Columbus, MS, Brad Clemmons, Columbus, MS, Craig (Anne) Clemmons, Columbus, MS, Brandy (Kyle) Teer, Columbus, MS, Brittany Clemmons, Panama City, FL; and 12 Great-Grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Wayne Eaves, Ronnie Colburn, Bobby Brandon, Jimmy Ruffin, Joe Hollis, Ray Crane, Craig Clemmons, Brad Clemmons and Brian Custard. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Mt. Zion Baptist Church Adult Men's Sunday School Class.
