Lona "Pete" Williams Lona "Nanny Pete" Williams, 60, of Columbus, MS passed away Sunday, September 25, 2011 at UAB Medical Center, Birmingham, AL. Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 27, 2011 from 6 PM – 8 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at 2 PM at Fairview Baptist Church, Columbus, MS with Bro. Sammy Crawford, Bro. Tommy Gillon and Bro. Kevin Jenkins officiating. Mrs. Williams will lie in state one hour prior to her service at the church. Interment will be in Memorial Gardens, Columbus, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS directing. Mrs. Williams was born February 1, 1951 in Columbus, MS to Lona McDaniel Southerland and the late C. L. Hutcherson. She was a lifetime resident of Columbus, MS. Mrs. Williams was an active member of Fairview Baptist Church, Columbus, MS where she was a member of Bob Crigler's Sunday School Class, 55 +, leader of the 4 year old choir and sang in the Victory Ensemble. In addition to her father, she is preceded in death by her father, Dan W. Southerland, Jr.; grandparents, R. W. and Bessie McDaniel; aunt, Sybil Andrews and granddaughter, Elizabeth Joy Williams. Mrs. Williams is survived by her fiancee', Mike McReynolds, Columbus, MS; mother, Lona Southerland, Columbus, MS; son, Jason (D. J.) Williams, Columbus, MS; sisters, Joy (Steve) West, Columbus, MS; Margaret (Butch) Reed, Columbus, MS; Ann Southerland, Madison, MS; one granddaughter, Hope Williams, Columbus, MS; aunts, Sallye Wright, Mary Spruill, Johnnie Guy, Connie Jones and Marilynn Andrews; nieces, Stephanie (Richard) Gregg, Stacie (Rob) Winklepleck, Betsy Reed; nephew, Tyler Reed and great nephew, Steven Gregg. Pallbearers will be Steve West, Butch Reed, Tyler Reed, Richard Gregg, Rob Winklepleck and Will McReynolds.
