Lonnie Eugene (Gene) Meredith, 68, of Caledonia, MS, left this world and those who loved him, on Sunday, February 28, 2021, at his residence.
A service will be on Saturday, March 6, 2021, at 1:00 P.M. at First United Pentecostal Church of Caledonia with Sandra Humber officiating.
Mr. Meredith was born on November 4, 1952, to the late Thelma Galey Meredith and Bill Meredith of Black Hawk, MS. He worked for Caterpillar Diesel Equipment in Florida and Mississippi as a diesel mechanic. He also worked on the boats that traveled the Mississippi River. Mr. Meredith loved helping people, especially helping them moved to a new location. It did not matter how close they were to him; if there was a need, he was more than willing to fulfill it. He was loved by all who knew him because he was always there to support and help. Even after Gene was not able to do physical things, he would drive to help people as much as he could. He loved fishing and watching westerns on television.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Meredith was preceded in death by his brothers- William Meredith and Jimmy Meredith; his sister- Penny Garrett; his son- Tony Madden; his great-grandson- A. J. Harville; his nephew- Carl Anthony Hoover.
Mr. Meredith is survived by his wife- Barbara; his daughter- Sherri Madden (Bill) Boman; his children- Lonnie (Brenda) Meredith, Sonia Meredith, Jonathan Meredith, Angela (David) Stone, Jimmie (Sonnie) Lamatte, and Jeremy Meredith; his sisters- Nancy Emily Nix, and Jeanette (Ed) Dewett; his sister-in-law- Darlene Meredith; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Lung Association.
