Lonzo Nickoles, age 74, of Columbus, MS passed away Wednesday, September 12, 2018, at his residence.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 15, 2018, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, September 16, 2018, at 2:00 PM in the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bubba Dees officiating. Interment will be in Friendship Cemetery, Columbus, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Nickoles was born on November 14, 1943, in Columbus, MS to the late Lonzo Nickoles, Sr. and Elonia Butler Nickoles. He worked at Johnson Tombigbee Furniture as a truck driver and transporter for 37 years. Mr. Nickoles was a Mississippi State football fan. He loved listening to Conway Twitty, John Wayne, and Elvis. Mr. Nickoles enjoyed watching the TV show Gunsmoke. He liked to tailgate and go on cruises, and go camping as often as he could. In addition to his parents, Mr. Nickoles was preceded in death by his stepson- Todd Ashton, his son-in-law, Frank Garrard, his grandson, Chad Lollar, and his first wife, the mother of his children, Patricia Montgomery Nickoles.

Mr. Nickoles is survived by his wife- Shirley Ashton Nickoles of Columbus, MS; daughters- Paige Nickoles Garrard of Columbus, MS, Tara Nickoles Lollar of Steens, MS, and Jill Nickoles of Steens, MS; sons- Mark (Mary) Nickoles of Ethelsville, AL, Lonny (Tootie) Nickoles of Columbus, MS, and step-son- Steven Ashton of Columbus, MS; sister- Gatha Nickoles of Columbus, MS; brothers- Danny (Pat) Nickoles and Bobby Nickoles; 23 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Scotty Farrell, George Nickoles, Paul Garrard, Daniel Garrard, Michael Nickoles, Brandon Lollar, and Matthew Nickoles. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Kanemura, Buddy Henry, Pete Bowen, Billy Pickens, Johnny South, Hoyt Cantrell, Pat Perrigan, and Tommy Richardson.
