Louie Gene Taylor, 89, of Columbus, MS passed away Wednesday, January 1, 2020, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-GT.
A graveside service will be Wednesday, January 8, 2020, at 11:00 at Asbury Cemetery, Millport, AL with Rev. Jerry Bridges officiating and Lowndes Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Taylor was born October 8, 1930, in Columbus, MS to the late Mary Hayes and George Carl Taylor. He served in the United States Air force for 8 years, with a rank of Staff Sergeant. He served in the Korean war and he was awarded several medals and ribbons including the Korean service medal, Japenese occupation medal, United Nations Service Medal and Good Conduct. Mr. Taylor was in the dry cleaning business for 28 years. His last employment was a security guard at Airline MFG. CO. for 14 years, after which he retired. Mr. Taylor loved his family most of all. He had a large family and loved them all. He loved his wife, Sharon with all his heart and missed her terribly after she passed. In addition to his parents, Mr. Taylor is preceded in death by his loving wife of 20 years-Sharon F. Taylor; daughter- Mary Catherine Taylor; and 8 siblings.
Mr. Taylor is survived by his daughters- Teresa Champon of Columbus, MS, Sheila Hassler of Websten, NY, Terri Crowell of Tuscaloosa, AL, Kristi Woolbright of Columbus, MS and Sandra Taylor of Jacksonville, FL; son- Matthew Moore of Columbus, MS; 14 grandchildren and several great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
