Obituary

Louise Shepherd Mayberry, 89, of Haleyville, AL passed away Sunday, January 17, 2016, at Lakeland Community Hospital, Haleyville, AL.

A Visitation will be Tuesday, January 19, 2016, from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Graveside Services will follow at 2:00 PM at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Columbus, MS with Pastor Ronnie Marbutt officiating and Lowndes Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Mayberry was born April 5, 1926, to the late Jesse Martin and Thelma Coleman Moore in Lowndes County, MS. She graduated in 1944 from New Hope School and attended the University of Alabama's nursing program. Mrs. Mayberry worked for many years at Reuben's Fish House in Columbus, MS. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Haleyville, AL. Mrs. Mayberry enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, word searches, playing cards and putting jig saw puzzles together. Mrs. Mayberry will be remembered by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren when they enjoyed playing cards and gathering around the kitchen table for fellowship. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Mayberry is preceded in death by her son James Ray Wilson; a daughter-Candace L. Vandiver; brother-Leon Moore; and sister-Lulline Stafford.

Mrs. Mayberry is survived by 4 daughters-Billie Sue Sims Trammel, Baldwyn, MS; Becky Stevens, Haleyville, AL; Jenny Murphy and Anna Holladay, both of Columbus, MS; grandchildren-Shad Sims, Tonya Dabbs, Dustin Murphy, Mandy Brackin, Michael Stevens, Kristy Belue, Kim Nabors, Jason Vandiver, Lindsey Vandiver; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Shad Sims, Michael Stevens, Jason Vandiver, Stan House, Scott Belue, and Jamie Wilson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Mike Cole and Bob Murphy.
