Loyd David McCarter, 79, of Columbus, MS passed away Friday, February 5, 2021, at his residence.

Mr. McCarter was born on November 16, 1941, in Sevier County, TN to the late Gladys Atchley Rathbone and Floyd Ernest McCarter. Master Sergent Loyd McCarter retired from the Air Force in 1986 after 20 years of service where he received many awards and served overseas in Vietnam and Thailand. After he retired from the Air Force he owned McCarter Seamless Guttering. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, woodworking, being outdoors, and beekeeping. Mr. McCarter loved helping others and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. McCarter is preceded in death by his mother Gladys Rathbone, stepfather- John Rathbone; sister- Sue Barksdale; and brother- Dwayne McCarter.

Mr. McCarter is survived by his wife- Wilma Clifton McCarter; daughter- Michelle Jones; grandchildren- David Austin Jones, and James Collin Jones; brother- Wayne McCarter (Laura); and sisters- Linda Faye Hughes (Bernard) of Knoxville, Tn and Louise Frazier (Von) of Grover, SC.
