Lucille M. Dawkins, 85 of Columbus, MS passed away Thursday, January 15, 2015 at Windsor Nursing Home, Columbus, MS. Visitation will be Sunday, January 18, 2015 from 1:00 - 2:00 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. A Funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM officiating in the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Melvin Mordecai officiating. A private burial will immediately follow at Bethesda Baptist Church Cemetery, Crawford, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home directing. The daughter of the late Vester and Vera Dawkins, Lucille Dawkins was born July 30, 1929 in the Shady Grove community in Winston County, MS. A resident of Columbus since 1951, she was employed at Seminole Manufacturing later known as American Trouser, for over 50 years. She was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church, Columbus for many years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Olene Chain. Lucille Dawkins is survived by her sister - Louise S. Edwards, Crawford; niece - Betty Self, Crawford, MS; nephews - Billy Edwards, Columbus, Water Stewart, Starkville and Anthony Chain, Columbus and a number of great nieces and nephews.
