Luther Owen Browning, 78 of Millport, AL passed away Thursday, January 3, 2013 at his residence. Visitation will be Sunday, January 6, 2013 from 2-3 pm at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Funeral services will follow at 3 pm at Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel, Columbus, MS with Bro. James Godsey officiating. Interment will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Columbus, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS directing. Mr. Browning was born February 3, 1934 in Lamar County, AL to the late John W. and Wilda P. Harris Browning. He was a lifelong native of Lamar County and was a member of Springhill Baptist Church, Millport, AL. Mr. Browning was a veteran of the U.S. Army and he worked for Pepsi-Cola, Coca-Cola Bottling Company in refrigeration for many years, and then worked for Continental Grain in maintenance, working a total of 40 years before retiring. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, gospel music, fishing, crosswords and spending time with his grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Browning is preceded in death by sisters, Willet Avery, Billie Vail and brothers, Rodger Browning, Harold Browning and Charles Browning. Mr. Browning is survived by his wife of 54 years, Roseland Cook Browning, Millport, AL, son, Bobby (Diane) Browning, Millport, AL, daughter, Tammy (Todd) Patrick, Vernon, AL, sisters, Opal Renfroe, Fayette, AL, Barbara ( Charles Ray) Sansing, Hanceville, AL, Shirley (Billy) Moore, Millport, AL, brother, Bobby Ray Browning, Iowa, grandchildren, Brandon (Beth) Patrick, Blake (Tosha) Patrick, Cheyanne Browning, Martina Browning, great grandchildren, Ashleigh Patrick, Emma Kate Patrick and Allie Patrick. Pallbearers will be Toby Patrick, Vince Morris, Dalton Atkins, Todd Sansing, Kyle Shaw and Ronnie Renfroe. Honorary pallbearer is Dan Prater.
