Malcolm Clyde Sansing COLUMBUS, MS- Malcolm Clyde Sansing, 66, of Columbus died peacefully on August 16, 2011, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo after a prolonged illness. He was born on March 18, 1945, in Bunkie, Louisiana, to the late Troy and Maudie Sansing. A longterm resident of the Columbus area, he owned Sansing's Grocery on Highway 50 East for more than 40 years. He was proud to have served in the U.S. Army from 1966-1968, completing a tour of duty in Vietnam as a demolitions expert. He was also a retired rural mail carrier with the Columbus Post Office. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, which he loved so much. He was also a founding member of Still Hunting Club in Lamar County, AL. He loved going to church, fishing, hunting, gardening, visiting with friends, working on his tractor and being an awesome husband, father, and grandpa to his precious granddaughters. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his older brother Troy Bruce Sansing, Sr. A beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, he is survived by his wife of 43 years, Linda, his son, Dr. Brockton Sansing of Tupelo, his daughter and son-in-law, Amy Peacock and Thomas Peacock of Southaven, his two granddaughters, Emma and Abby Peacock of Southaven, his brothers Craig (Bicki), David (Olivia), Chris (Diane), and Jeff (Tangie), all of the Columbus area, and a host of nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his devoted caregiver, Ruthie Goodman, and his weekend helper and friend, Johnnie Ussery. Visitation will be Friday, August 19, from 6-8 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home in Columbus. He will lie in state at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Columbus from 9AM followed by funeral services at 10AM at the church with Bro. Gene Gillis officiating and Bro. Tommy Whaley assisting. Interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery with Lowndes Funeral Home directing. Pallbearers will be Troy Bruce Sansing, Jr., Alan Sansing, Ashley Sansing, Josh Sansing, Terry Cline, Jeff Honnell, and Alton Pannell. Honorary pallbearers will be James "Sarge" Godfrey, Johnny Mack McCrary, John McNorton, Joe Ables, Jeff Clark, Charlie Gholson, John Gilmer, Don Gilmer, David Wheeler, Winston Ferguson, Gary Moore, Walt Long, Don Pennington, Roland Hill, Terry Fields, Lee Ray, Bobby Ray, Herbert Junkin, Brad Vaughan, Joe Vaughan, Charles McAdams, John Haggard, Jimmy Hicks, John Hicks, Buddy Hicks, Ricci Hicks, Danny Price, William Davis, Wade McCullough, Bill Doss' Sunday School class, and the members of the Still Hunting Club.
