Obituary

Margie Lorene Banks Krohe, 71, of Hartselle, Alabama, passed away in her sleep on Monday, February 5, 2018, at her residence.

A Celebration of Life for Ms. Krohe's close friends and family members will be held at Lowndes Funeral Home on Lehmberg Road in Columbus, Mississippi on Saturday, February 10, 2018, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.

Ms. Krohe was born October 8, 1946, in Columbus, MS to Christine Eskridge Banks and the late Paul Banks of Macon, MS. She graduated from Noxubee High School in Brooksville, MS Class of 1964. She graduated from Colvin's Beauty College. Ms. Krohe prayed a lot and always encouraged her children and grandchildren to trust in our Lord Jesus Christ. She enjoyed decorating, caring for her flowers and plants, cooking for her family and friends, cutting hair and hair-styling, watercolor painting, keeping up with politics, and caring for her loyal best friend, her Miniature Poodle named "Pippa." She loved old movies, collecting antiques and art, and also watching Dr. Oz and Dr. Phil while enjoying her Diet Coke and a nice, plump, juicy, red tomato. She oftentimes sat on her porch watching feeding her precious hummingbirds. She loved attending weddings and bridal showers, and spending 'girl time' with her nieces: Sandi, Megan, Mica, Beth, Kimberly, Lee Ann and Kristen; they absolutely adored their Aunt Margie.

Ms. Krohe owned rental properties in Columbus, MS including The Hair Studio, which she transformed into a beauty shop, bookstore, and apartments, from the old 'Southern Cafe' building behind the Depot in 1986. She once owned the Hairport, Beauty-Rama, and Mar-K's House of Styles in East Columbus. She was one of the co-founders of the Annual Possum Town Pig Fest that originated in 1983 at Pirate's Cove. She lived in Macon, MS throughout her childhood and teenage years, then moved to Columbus, MS in 1973, where she lived until 2017, before recently moving to Hartselle, Alabama. She loved her dog, cat, and hummingbirds. Her cat, "Tit-Tat," recently passed away at age 18. Many people have commented to Ms. Krohe's sons "You have the coolest mom on the planet!" She was a sweet, kind soul who never had anything bad to say about anyone. Everyone loved her for her graciousness, courage, and strength. Our loss, indeed, is Heaven's gain. Ms. Krohe was preceded in death by her father, Paul L. Banks, of Macon, MS.

Ms. Krohe is survived by her mother, Mrs. Christine Banks, of Macon, MS; her sons: Chris Krohe and wife Gayle, of Hartselle, AL; Tobie Krohe of Boston, MA; her grandchildren: Weston, Dylan, and Tyler Krohe; her siblings: Paulette Moore and husband Gene, of Macon; Mike Banks and wife Teri, of Macon; Rusty Banks of Jasper, AL; and Wanda Dawson and husband Mike, of Madison.
