Martha Adele Butler Delk Atkins, 83, of Columbus, MS, passed away Tuesday, October 27, 2015, at her residence. Visitation will be from 12:00pm to 2:00pm at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Funeral Services will follow at 2:00pm in the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jack Taylor officiating. Interment will be in Egger Cemetery, Caledonia, MS, with Lowndes Funeral Home directing. Mrs. Atkins was born May 9, 1932, to the late Thomas Linwood Butler and Mattie Lou Keenum in Columbus, MS. She was a member of the Bread of Life Church, Columbus, MS. Mrs. Atkins was a Secretary for the Boys and Girls Club and an in-home nurse. She enjoyed poems and crocheting and was good at writing. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Atkins is preceded in death by her husband- Vive Villa "Bill" Atkins and brothers- Floyd Wood, Bill Wood, E.B. Wood, Marvin Wood, James Butler, Jesse Harrell. Mrs. Atkins is survived by her daughter- Beverly Cox, Columbus, MS; sons- Steve (Kay) Delk, Columbus, MS, Bruce (Beverly) Delk, Hampton, VA, Glenn (Betty) Delk, Columbus, MS, Billy (Maggie) Atkins, Columbus, MS; 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Greg Prather, Donovan Prather, Christopher Prather, Austin Cox, Homer Humphries, Jeffrey Bullock, Shawn Bullock, and Joshua Delk.
