Martha Evelyn Cole, 80 of La Porte, IN passed away Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at Franciscan St. Anthony Health in Michigan City, IN. Visitation will be Monday, September 1, 2014 from 9:30 AM til 11:00 AM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 AM in the Chapel with Junior Eads officiating. Interment will be in Egger Cemetery, Caledonia, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home directing. Mrs. Cole was born March 24, 1934 in Harrison, AK to the late Kermit and Irene Smith Baucom. She married Melvin Cole on October 23, 1950. Mrs. Cole worked as a seamstress and at Burger King in La Porte for twelve years. She was a member of Victory Tabernacle, Columbus, MS and attended First Church of God in La Porte, IN. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband-Melvin Cole, daughters- Darlene and Debra; brother-Pete Baucom and sister-Kathyren Phillips. Mrs. Cole is survived by daughters-Valerie (Alan) Peterson, Rolling Prairie and Lynn (Mark) Banaski, Valparaiso; grandchildren-Kelli (Dale) Fisher, Lisa Cole, Angel Wall, Frances Beck, Karla (Dave)Lane; great-grandchildren-Brittany Fisher, Maxwell Fisher; great great grandchildren-Austin Rickard and Braydon Lane; brothers and sisters-Wanda Andrews, Ellis Baucom, David Baucom, Tony Baucom, Kermit Baucom, Jr. , Leslie Baucom and Michael Baucom.
