Martha Edmondson, 89, of Columbus, MS passed away on Thursday, December 27, 2018, at North Mississippi Medical Center, West Point, MS.
Visitation will be held Sunday, December 30, 2018, from 12:30-2:00 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Funeral Services will follow at 2:00 PM from the Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Bobby Douglas officiating and Bro. Roy Hawkins assisting. Interment will be in Friendship Cemetery, Columbus, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS directing.
Mrs. Edmondson was born June 2, 1929, in Columbus, MS to the late H.C. and Dollie Harkins. She married Frank Edmondson, SR, November 19, 1950, and resided in Oxford, AL until returning to Columbus in 1969. Mrs. Edmondson was a stay at home mom until 1970 when she took a job at Angel Playland Daycare and eventually going into the Pasquale's Pizza business with her husband until their retirement in 1998. Mrs. Edmondson was known by those who loved her as "Granny". She loved her family and her church family at Calvary Baptist where she taught the ladies Fidelis Sunday School Class for almost 25 years. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, 2 brothers-William Harkins, Thomas "Tom" Harkins; 2 sisters- Dollie Wilson Cummings and Lorine Lavender.
Mrs. Edmondson is survived by her 5 children-Frank (Hank) Edmondson, JR (Liz), Susan Edmondson, Nancy Schultz, Teena Dodd (Mike), and Rebecca Childers; 12 grandsons- Michael Schultz (Cari), Alan Schultz (Christina), Kevin Schultz, Palani (Frank III) Edmondson (Marie), Jeff Edmondson (Jenny), Brad Edmondson (Lindsey), Adam Dodd, Nick Dodd (Shasta), Lance Dodd (Jami), Trevor Dodd, Brett Childers, Brent Childers (Ashley), who were the pride and joy of her life. 16- Great-Grandchildren and 4 Step Great- Great Granddaughters and a special friend Johnny Harrison of Columbus, MS and also a host of special nieces and nephews.
Active Pallbearers will be her Grandsons, Honorary Pallbearers will be Ladies III Fidelis Sunday School Class and her Calvary Baptist Church Family.
