It is with great sadness the family of Martha Lee Taylor announces her passing on December 28, 2025 at the age of 93.

The graveside service will be Saturday, January 3, 2026 at 11:00 A.M. at Mt. Zion Cemetery with Bro. Sammy Crawford officiating. Lowndes Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.

Mrs. Taylor was born August 19, 1932 in Jackson, MS to the late Aubrey L. Dillard and Burmah Morgan Dillard. She married Ralph Taylor on May 21, 1954 in Bainbridge, Georgia. She received her Registered Nursing Degree from Leflore County Hospital Nursing School. Her nursing career began at Doster Hospital. Upon the opening of Lowndes General Hospital in Columbus, she was named Head Nurse of the 2nd Floor / Surgical. Later, she left working in the hospital and transferred to working at Dr. Lott’s Clinic in East Columbus until her retirement in 1994. Mrs. Taylor was a long-time member of Fairview Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking family meals for holidays and birthdays, sewing for her children, grandchildren and herself, fishing at Land O’ Lakes with her beloved husband, and taking care of her grandchildren, which often included many rounds of Phase 10.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Taylor is preceded in death by her sister – Burmah Ruth Shackleford (Leonard); and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. She is survived by her husband of 71 years – Ralph Taylor; children – Andrea “Jenny” Thomasson (Larry), and Susan Ray (Eddie); grandchildren – Bryant Thomasson (Jessica), Whitney Yonts (Heath), and Taylor Watson (Seth) and 1 great grandson – Hunter Thomasson.

The family extends heart-felt thanks to Trinity Assisted Living, Baptist Hospice Nurses and Aides, and are forever grateful for the loving care provided to her by her caregivers, Mary, Karen, Octavia, Yolanda, and Gwen.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital at stjude.org/donate or 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
