Mary Virginia Perkins Burns, 80, of Columbus, MS passed away Sunday, January 15, 2017, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-GT, Columbus, MS.

Visitation will be Tuesday, January 17, 2017, from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM at Fairview Baptist Church, Columbus, MS.  A Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 AM with Bro. Tommy Gillon officiating and Bro. Kevin Jenkins assisting.  Interment will be in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery, Columbus, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS directing.

Mrs. Burns was born February 15, 1936, to the late Rev. Grover and Hazel McGee Perkins in Lowndes County, MS. She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church and enjoyed spending time with the 55+ group. Mrs. Burns loved scrapbooking, traveling and going out to eat and spending time with her friends. She was employed at United Technologies in Columbus, MS for 45 years. She loved all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Mrs. Burns was well known and loved by all who knew her.  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband- Horace Webster Burns and sister – Francis Perkins.

Mrs. Burns is survived by her daughters- Denise Burns of Columbus, MS and Janette Burns of Long Beach, MS; stepson- Harvey Burns of Fulton, MS; grandchildren- Wesley (Sarai) Barnett, Adam Barnett, Joshua Barnett, Dillon Hawkins, Kacie (Jeffery) Bullock; step-grandchildren- Rob (Janice) Burns, Richard(Elma) Burns; 6 great-grandchildren; and sister- Dorothy Pitts of Columbus, MS.

Pallbearers will be Wesley Barnett, Dillon Hawkins, and Jeffrey Bullock. Honorary Pallbearers will be Staff of Baptist Hospice, 3rd and 5th Floor Nursing Staff at Baptist Memorial Hospital – GT.
