Mary Katherine Butts, 76, passed away Sunday, July 26, 2015 at Aurora Australis Lodge in Columbus, MS. Visitation will be from 9:00AM to 10:00AM on Saturday, August 1, 2015 at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. A Funeral Service will follow at 10:00AM in the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Stephen Joiner officiating. Interment will be at Memorial Gardens, Columbus, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home directing. Mrs. Butts was born April 22, 1939 to the late Chester Smith and Thelma Rivers Smith in Union, MS. She married John A. Butts on November 9, 1957. As a resident of the area for the past 53 years, she was a Nurse's Aid for Columbus Hospital under the supervision of Dr. Frazier and a member of the First Church of the Nazarene. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband-John A. Butts and a grandchild. Mrs. Butts is survived by her sons-John A. Butts, Jr., Canada, and Artis Ray Butts, Tennessee; 2 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild. Pallbearers will be Lonnie Clardy, Todd Clardy, Brandon Farley, Jeremy Pannell, Jeff Farley, and Adam Farley. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Caregivers and Staff of Aurora Australis Lodge of Columbus. Memorials may be made to First Church of the Nazarene, 2722 Ridge Rd., Columbus, MS 39705.
