Mary Alice Taggart Callahand, age 73, of Columbus, MS passed away on Sunday, May 27, 2018, at Trinity Place, Columbus, MS.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2018, at 3:00 PM at Lone Oak Church of Christ Cemetery. Lowndes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Ms. Callahand was born on October 10, 1944, in Columbus, MS to the late Rowan and Lola Belle Holley Taggart. She worked at Columbus Furniture, the Alabama Institute for the Blind, the Columbus Air Force Base, and Safe Haven. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter- Donna McElhenney and her aunt- Catherine Hanks.

Ms. Callahand is survived by her daughter- Melissa (Joey) Staten; siblings- Ray (Nancy) Taggart, Shirly Delk, Faye Greggs, Vickie Dvorak, Doris (Roy) Sims, Betty Ann (David) Hildreth, Sue (Steve) Taggart, Stanley (Amy) Taggart, and Rowena (Robert) Smith; grandchildren- Jessica Staten, and Carla Bush; great-grandchildren- Addilyn Young, Olivia Hunley, Wesley Hunley, and Paisley Bush; and her aunt- Enda Salzer.
