Mary Alice Hinson, 72 of Columbus, MS passed away Sunday, October 25, 2020, at Baptist Memorial Hospital – Golden Triangle, Columbus, MS.

A memorial service will be Saturday, October 31, 2020, at 1:00 in the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel, Columbus, MS with Bro. Ron Delgado officiating and Lowndes Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Hinson was born December 31, 1947, to the late Walter Elmo and Ulma Gertrude Smith Thomasson in Louisville, MS.  She attended Vibrant Church, Columbus, MS.  Mrs. Hinson worked as a seamstress with McRae's Department Store and owned Mary's Thread Shed in Columbus, MS for many years.  She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed her time with them.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hinson was preceded in death by her husband – Douglas Gilbert Hinson; brother – Willie Joe Thomasson and sister – Peggy Warren.

Mrs. Hinson is survived by her daughters – Tammy Lynn Green and Maria Rathburn; son – Douglas "Artie" Hinson; grandchildren – Chalise Rathburn, Roman Dale Hinson, Elric Ray Hinson, Dillon W. Conn, James R. Conn, and Laurana Hinson; great-grandchild – Michael Conn; sisters – Linda Clardy, Billie Trussell, Donnie Sue Foster, and Bettye Meadows; and brother – Walter Thomasson.
