After graduation from Vernon High School and moving to Columbus, she married Lee Roy Lollar, Sr. on April 27, 1940. They were married for 65 years, until his death in 2005. She worked for Bell Telephone Company as a switchboard operator after marriage, until her first child was born. At that time she became a full-time mother, having three children. Mary Blanche was a homemaker who was famous for her cooking skills, especially her apple cobblers and pound cakes. She made a pound cake every Friday for her husband, Lee Roy. She was a dedicated member of Central United Methodist Church where she served in various capacities, including Sunday School teacher, VBS, and as UMW Ladies Treasurer for 35 years. She was able to stay in her home, until the age of 98. Mary spent her summers canning and freezing fresh vegetables. She loved her flower garden, growing the most beautiful azaleas, roses, amaryllis, and peonies. She was an avid reader, in her later years, her favorites were the Bible, The Miss Julia, and Mitford Series books. She was plain spoken and expected her children and grandchildren to use good manners and proper grammar. She had a group of special friends, "The Girls" from Central UMC who would faithfully visit Mary, keeping her updated on church, friends, and family. She cherished her sweet neighbor, and friend, Joyce, who always looked out for Mary, visiting her every day. She will be greatly missed by her friends and family, those who loved her and those who came to love her at Trinity Personal Care. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the caregivers at Trinity Personal Care, especially those who serve the west hall.
