Mary Sutton McGairty, 68 of Columbus, MS passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2020, at her residence.

A family funeral service will be Friday, May 29, 2020, at Lowndes  Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Kenny Gardner officiating.  Interment will be at Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Columbus, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home directing.  Friends may view the service live online at www.lowndesfuneralhome.net .

Mrs. McGairty was born on October 19, 1951, to the late Floyd and Lena Pate Sutton in Gordo, AL, and married Virgil Wayne McGairty July 29, 1967, in Aliceville, AL.  She worked as a seamstress at the garment plant for many years.  Mrs. McGairty was a member of Community Baptist Church, Columbus, MS.  She was very proud of her family and loved spending time with her grandchildren.  She was a loving mother and grandmother.  Mrs. McGairty loved cooking and gardening her flowers.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. McGairty was preceded in death by her brothers – Marvin Sutton, Melvin Sutton, and Murray Sutton.

Mrs. McGairty is survived by her husband of 52 years – Virgil Wayne McGairty, Columbus, MS; sons – Mark (Teri Atkins) McGairty, Columbus, MS and Brian (Emily) McGairty, Pearl, MS; brothers – Marshall Sutton, Max Sutton, Mike Sutton, Morris Sutton, Marty Sutton, and Milton Sutton; sisters – Margie Woolbright, Melba Parish, Mable Price, and Mickey Kerr; grandchildren – Lindsey McGairty, Macy McGairty, Jon Davis McGairty, Tatum McGairty, and Tucker McGairty.
