Obituary

Mary Katherine Harcrow Pate, 88, of Columbus, MS passed away Thursday, March 31, 2016 at Baptist Memorial Hospital – GT, Columbus, MS.

Visitation will be Sunday, April 3, 2016 from 1:00PM-3:00PM at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Columbus, MS. A Funeral Service will follow at 3:00PM at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Bro. Ralph Windle officiating and Bro. Joe Pate assisting. Interment will follow in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery, Columbus, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS directing.

Mrs. Pate was born April 26, 1927 in Pickens County, AL to the late John Lucas and Jenny Bryant Harcrow. She was the President of the Lillian Berry Sunday School Class. Mrs. Pate loved cooking, taking care of her family and gardening. She was extremely dedicated to her church and church family. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Pate is preceded in death by her husband – John William Pate, Jr.

Mrs. Pate is survived by her sons – Curtis Pate, Columbus, MS and Joe (Ceal) Pate, Forrest, MS; daughters – Patty (Alan) Duffie, Asheville, NC, Barbara Ibarra and Linda (John) Inmon, both of Columbus, MS; 12 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Ricky Harcrow, Rusty Scott Walker, Larry McJenkin, John Inmon, Luke Pounders, Brandon Greenlee, and Sabin Neely. Honorary Pallbearers will be David Dortch, Ray Crane, Ronnie Colburn, Jessie Sims, Mark Oswalt, and Lillian Berry Joy Sunday School Class.

Memorials may be made to Mt. Zion Baptist Church Building Fund, 1791 Lake Lowndes Road, Columbus, MS 39702.
