Mary Ann Thompson, 85, of Columbus, MS, passed away Sunday, July 10, 2022, at North Mississippi Medical Center.

A Visitation will be on July 14, 2022, from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Funeral service will follow at 2:00 in the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Jim Futral and Bro. Jim Ray officiating.  Interment will be at Memorial Gardens, Columbus, MS.

Ann was born in Cleveland, MS on June 4, 1937, to the late Joseph Garrett and Lovie Welch Garrett.  She was married to Dale Leon Thompson, Senior Master Sergeant for the United States Air Force, for 65 years, and is survived by him.  Together they resided in many places throughout the US and Guam, until they settled in Columbus in 1979.  Ann was a long-time employee of First National Bank, then Merchant & Farmers Bank.  She was a member of McBee Baptist Church.  Ann was an avid gardener who loved working in her yard.  She was very family-oriented and loved spending time with them.  She was loved by all.

In addition to her husband, Ann is survived by her daughter, Pat Ann (Robbie Mitchell) Thompson, of Birmingham, AL; grandson – Michael Steven (Haley) Thompson; great-grandchildren – Easton Thompson and Lynnlee Thompson; brothers – James (Rebecca) Garrett and Tommy (Morena) Garrett and sister – Charlotte Pittman; and many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Seth Swafford, Troy Garrett, Joe Fondren, Ricky Crawley, Robby Mitchell, and Bradley Garrett.
