Obituary

Mattie Lee (Mack) Ray Price was called to Paradise on September 27, 2023. She died peacefully at Garden Hill Assisted Living where she was dearly loved.

Visitation will be Friday, October 6, 2023, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Service will be Friday, October 6, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS with  Bro. Rob Dowdle officiating. Interment will follow at Friendship Cemetery, Columbus, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home directing.

Upon her passing, Mrs. Price was reunited with the love of her life A.J. Price. They were married on July 3rd, 1971 and they were blessed to share 46 years together. They both would tell you that the success of their marriage was that they loved Father God first and then each other. She was 93.

Mrs. Price was born January 28, 1930, in Sturgis, MS to J.D. and Claudia Lee Carpenter Ray. She graduated from Sturgis High School in 1948 and was the Salutatorian of her class. Mattie was employed by NBC, now Cadence Bank. She started working as a bank teller and worked her way up to becoming a branch manager. She retired from Cadence after 40 years. Mrs. Price was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, Steens, MS. She served in several capacities as a faithful member. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, AJ Price, her daughter, Patrice Singler, and her son, Gary Hartness.

She is survived by her children, Darryl Hartness, Columbus, MS, and Candi Vezina (Ralph Estes) Columbus, MS. She has 8 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother that always made sure that we knew how much she loved us.

Pallbearers will be-Jeff Hartness, AJ Vezina, Reggie Wilburn, JaVon Wilburn, Ken Brewer and Jason Minga Honorary pallbearers will be Lance Brown, Jason Hartness, Wyatt Hartness, Teresa Brewer, Lisa Dooley, and Edith "Bertie" Via.

The family would like to thank the nurses, aides, and staff of Garden Hill and Enhabit Hospice for the love and care they have given to our mother. She loved them very much.
