Mavis M. Tullos Mavis Mildred Tullos, 91 of the New Hope Community passed away Thursday, August 4, 2011 at Baptist Memorial Hospital – Golden Triangle, Columbus, MS. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 7, 2011 from 1 – 3 PM at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Columbus, MS. Funeral Services will follow at 3 PM at the church with Bro. Steve Lammons officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Columbus, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS directing. Mrs. Tullos was born in Montgomery County, MS on May 29, 1920 to the late Ada Belle and Frank Keith. She was the oldest of three children. Mrs. Tullos was a beautician and Real Estate agent the early part of her married life. She moved to Noxubee County, MS almost 50 years ago and became a homemaker, seamstress, cook, gardener, and farmer's wife. Mrs. Tullos moved to the New Hope Community four years ago and became a very active member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Mrs. Tullos was a loving Christian mother, who deeply loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, church family, and her friends. She will be missed by all who knew her. Mrs. Tullos was a very active Masonic worker. She was Worthy Matron of Macon Eastern Star twice and was a leader and sponsor of Rainbow Girls for many years. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Tullos is preceded in death by her husband, A.J. Tullos. Mrs. Tullos is survived by her sons – Monroe (Beverly) Beaird, Brooksville, MS and Keith (Pauline) Beaird, Columbus, MS; four grandchildren – Bobbye (Jeff) Chism, Bart (Gina) Beaird, Angela (John) Howe, and Jason (Jessica) Beaird; and seven great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Chandler Craig, Bradley Briggs, Ray Crane, Bob Brandon, Ronnie Colburn, Hardy Hester, and David Dortch. Honorary Pallbearers will be the deacons of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Richard Barge, Bro. Steve Strohl, Dr. Lance Busch, and the Joy Lillian Berry Sunday School Class of Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
