Maya Janay Oliver, 25 of Eglin AFB, FL passed away Monday, May 31, 2021 at Columbus Air Force Base, Columbus, MS.
Visitation will be held Sunday, June 6, 2021, from 11:00 AM-12:00 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Terry Franklin officiating. Interment will be in Alabama National Cemetery Montevallo, AL on Monday, June 7, 2021 at 10:15 A.M.
Ms. Oliver was born July 5, 1995, in Starkville, MS to Delinda Oliver and Arie Smith, Sr. She went to New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. Ms. Oliver graduated from Noxubee County in 2013. She loved to go shopping, working out, and weight lifting. Ms. Oliver especially loved spending time with her daughter. She was currently stationed at Eglin AFB, FL but Mississippi was home to her. Ms. Oliver is preceded in death by her maternal grandfather- John Lee Oliver; and her uncles- Melvin Smith, John H. Smith III, and Henry Yarbrough.
Ms. Oliver is survived by her mother- Delinda Oliver of Indianapolis, IN; father-Arie Smith, Sr., of Macon, MS; daughter- Amani Janae Slaughter of Indianapolis, IN; brothers- Joshua Oats of Columbus, MS, Arie Smith, Jr. of Chicago, IL, and Hassan Jordon of Macon, MS; step-sister- Jamalia Joiner of Macon, MS; Maternal grandmother- Annie Slivers of Indianapolis, IN; paternal grandmother- Vietta (John H) Smith of Macon, MS; paternal grandfather- D.C. Latman of St. Louis, MS; aunts- Clarissa (Willie) Grant, III, and Lisa (Marvin) Jones; uncles- James (Victoria) Smith, Tyrone (Susan) Sanders, Dewitt Smith, and Jockey Oliver.
Pallbearers will be the Military. Honorary pallbearers will be James Smith, Tyrone Sanders, Dewitt Smith, and Jockey Oliver.
