M.C. Fowler, 91, of Columbus, MS passed away Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at Aurora Australis Nursing Home, Columbus, MS. Visitation will be Friday, October 19, 2012 from 6-8 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Funeral Services will be Saturday, October 20, 2012 at 1 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. James Black officiating, and Bro. Melvin Mordecai assisting. Interment will follow in Ebenezer United Methodist Church Cemetery, Fernbank, AL with Lowndes Funeral Home directing. Mr. Fowler was born July 31, 1921 in Fernbank, AL to the late Johnnie Moses and Eva Angeline Mordecai Fowler. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was a member of the 15th Fighter Group. Mr. Fowler then married Annie Will McNees on February 23, 1946 in Fernbank, AL. He worked over 30 years as a building contractor. Mr. Fowler was a longtime active member of St. Stephen United Methodist Church, Columbus, MS until his health declined. Mr. Fowler enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was an avid Alabama fan and enjoyed watching all sports. Mr. Fowler enjoyed being a member of the Holiday Rambler Camping Club in years past. In addition to his parents, Mr. Fowler was preceded in death by sisters – Sarah Idell Fowler Branyon, Annie Adell Fowler Murphy, Nettie Lee Fowler Sprouse and Ruby Zell Fowler, brothers – Marion Lamar Fowler and Norman Dale "Doc" Fowler. Mr. Fowler is survived by his wife of 66 years – Annie Will McNees Fowler, Columbus, MS, son – Freddie Wayne (Mary Lovorn) Fowler, Columbus, MS, sisters – Lola Banks Fowler Hassell and Mary Alice Fowler Christian both of Birmingham, AL, Clarice Lavoy Fowler Nethery, Fernbank, AL, grandchildren – Heather Elizabeth Cade (David) Ashmore, Rockwell, NC and Andrew Wayne Fowler, Columbus, MS, great-grandchildren – Ashlee Myranda Fondren and Kody McKinley Fondren both of Rockwell, NC. Pallbearers will be Dale McNees, Don McNees, Mervin McNees, Jimmy Sprouse, Larry Fowler and Andy Fowler. Honorary Pallbearers will be Staff of Aurora Australis Nursing Home, St. Stephen United Methodist Church, The Sharing Worker's Sunday School Class at St. Stephen United Methodist Church, Dr. Brett Brown,Dr. Doug Hill, Dean Conn, Linda Brown and former co-workers.
