Melvalene R. Murphy, 86 of Alabaster, AL passed away Tuesday, July 11, 2023,.

A graveside service will be Saturday, July 15, 2023, at 11:00 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Columbus, MS with Bro. Danny Avery officiating and Lowndes Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Murphy was born December 30, 1936, in Fayette County, AL to the late Elige Lee and Edith Clark Reese.  She was a graduate of Lee High School and attended Memphis State.  Mrs. Murphy is a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Columbus, MS.  She married Jack Murphy in 1958 in Columbus, MS and they have been married 65 years.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Murphy was preceded in death by her son – Gerald Anthony "Tony" Murphy.

Mrs. Murphy is survived by her husband – Jack Murphy; daughters – Sarah Elizabeth "Liz" Murphy and Buffy Murphy; sisters – Myra Reese (Bill) Price and Patsy Reese Weir; grandchildren – Angela T. (Kevin) Clark, Julie-Anna Murphy, Joseph (Haley) Murphy, Vaughn M (Ryan) Phipps, Sarah M. (Justin) Maynard and Ruby Thompson; great-grandchildren – Sarah Clark, Landon Clark, Cole Murphy, Grey Murphy, Owen Murphy, Caroline Murphy, Henry Phipps and Edgar Phipps.

Honorary pallbearers will be Joseph Murphy, Kevin Clark, Shawn Winn, Barry Winn, and Landon Clark.
