Michael Nicholas Evans, 94, of Columbus, MS passed away Friday, July 29, 2016, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-GT, Columbus, MS.
Visitation will be Saturday, August 6, 2016, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Coleman Funeral Home, Ackerman, MS. Graveside Services will follow at 11:30 AM at Fentress Baptist Church Cemetery, Ackerman, MS. Arrangements have been entrusted to Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS.
Mr. Evans, one of eleven brothers and sisters, was born April 1, 1922, to the late Michael Yvancho and Julia Sherman Evans in Scranton, PA. He served as Chief Petty Officer in the U. S. Navy for 30 years and was a paramedic for Choctaw County Medical Center for about 13 years. Mr. Evans attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Louisville, MS. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, and Retired Chief's Association. Mr. Evans enjoyed gardening, golf, cooking, and traveling. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Mary Bowman Evans.
Mr. Evans is survived by his daughters-Michelle Parsons, Pat (Bobby) Harris and Aileen (Clint) Dean, all of Columbus, MS; 8 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
