Michael "Mike" Lynn Chain, 63 of Columbus, MS passed away Monday, November 11, 2019, in Starkville, MS.

Visitation will be Thursday, November 14, 2019, from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS.  A funeral service will be Friday, November 15, 2019 at 10:00 AM at First United Methodist Church, Columbus, MS with Rev. Tony Proctor officiating and Rev. Jimmy Criddle assisting.

Mr. Chain was born August 15, 1956, to the late Edward and Elizabeth Gurley Ford Chain in Columbus, MS.  While recovering from a motorcycle accident in his teens, his mother bought his first guitar.  Shortly afterward he joined his first band and soon music became his lifelong passion.  Mr. Chain opened a music store in 1995 which introduced him to sound installation and production.  He connected and assisted several local churches with their sound systems.  Sound and production became as much of a passion in his life as performing live with his bands.  He used sound production in the community in association with benefits, clubs and other charitable organizations including Junior Auxiliary, Columbus Pilgrimage, Market Street Festival, Columbus Arts Council, Columbus Convention and Visitors Bureau, and Columbus Main Street Project just to name a few.  He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Columbus, MS and currently employed as Sound Engineer Supervisor in Event Services with Mississippi State University. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers – John and Ray Chain.

Mr. Chain is survived by his wife – Alice Chain, Columbus, MS; son – Charles (Joyce) Chain; daughter – Kerry Mason; grandchildren – Caiden Chain, Kenley Chain, and Charlie Chain.

Pallbearers will be Gary Shaw, Bobby Shannon, Tony Bain, Tony Foster, Robin Roberts, Dale Robertson, Raymond Brooks, and Billy Armstrong.  Honorary pallbearers will be the Staff of MSU Event Services and First United Methodist Church.

Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
