Mike Fowlkes, 72 of Columbus, MS passed away Friday, March 10, 2023, at Baptist Memorial Hospital - GTR.

A memorial service will be Tuesday, March 14, at 2:00 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS with Bro. Matt Moehring officiating.   Lowndes Funeral Home entrusted with the arrangements.

Mr. Fowlkes was born on December 7, 1950, in Montgomery, Alabama to the late R.C. and Geneva Fowlkes.  He graduated from Caledonia High School in 1968, and then attended Mississippi State University.  He served in the US Air Force and MS Air National Guard.  He retired from the Air Force Civil Service.  In his own words, Mike was "a terrible golfer but loved the game and fellowship with his fellow golfers."  He loved spending time with his grandchildren and watching them grow.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Fowlkes is preceded in death by his nephew – Guy Fowlkes.  He is survived by his wife – Cynthia Fowlkes; son – Chris (Sandy) Fowlkes; daughter – Nicole (Travis) Wallace; grandchildren – Logan Pirrung, Maddie Fowlkes, and Paxton Fowlkes; "Granny" Laurene Robinson; brother – Tim (Sandy) Fowlkes; sister – Bonnie Fowlkes; numerous nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law – Retta (Greg) Freeborn.
