Neal Lloyd Jones

Neal Lloyd Jones, five year resident of Steens, MS, passed away in his home surrounded by family following a battle with liver cancer. Born 3 December 1952, in Saint Louis, MO, to Clarence and Lucy Jones, he was the ninth of ten children. Following his 1970 graduation, from Central High School, Neal volunteered for the United States Army as a Message Cryptographer, serving in Germany and Belgium. returning to the states, Neal met the love of his life, Dinah Chernaskey. Amazingly, the two had grown up living on the same street, knowing the same group of friends, but never meeting. Following a chance meeting, the two were married six months later and were inseparable in what could only be said as a match meant to be.  Neal and Dinah welcomed two daughters, Elizabeth and Christina, who were his pride and joy. Following his retirement, Neal moved to Steens, MS, to be closer to his family and two grandchildren, Lucy and Allison. A devoted family man, nothing made Neal smile more than his children and grandchildren.

Neal is survived by his wife Dinah of 45 years, his children Elizabeth and Charles Eckert, Christina and Michael Hanna, and his grandchildren Lucy and Allison Eckert. In addition, Neal is survived by his sisters, Carol Helm and Barbara Luck, and countless nieces, nephews, cousins, and loved ones.
