Nell Simpson Golden Nell Simpson Golden, 92 of Columbus, MS passed away Sunday, September 11, 2011 at Baptist Memorial Hospital – GT, Columbus, MS. Visitation was held Tuesday, September 13, 2011 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Funeral Services were held Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at 2 p.m. in the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Billy Ferguson, officiating, Mr. Don Cole and Mr. Frank Golden assisting. Interment was in Millport City Cemetery, Lamar Co., AL with Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS directing. Mrs. Golden was born April 4, 1919 in Reform, AL to the late Ira and Delia Simpson. She was a lifetime resident of Columbus, MS and was a member of Columbus Church of Christ, Columbus, MS. She enjoyed reading, gardening, communicating with others on her computer and was a member of "The Red Hat Society." In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband - W. A. Golden, brothers – Fay Simpson, Stoner Simpson; sisters – Margaret Simpson Kealhofer and Kate Simpson Masters. Mrs. Golden is survived by her sons – Frank (Marie) Golden, Columbus, MS; Jon Golden, Birmingham, AL; grandchildren - Kym Golden (Ray) Gore, Tampa, FL; Wes (Adrienne) Golden, Northport, AL; Ana Golden, Madison, MS; Laura Golden, Birmingham, AL; great grandchildren – Will and Elizabeth Golden, Northport, AL and one niece – Daisy Simpson Floyd, Gordo, AL. Pallbearers were Roger Collins, Dave Monahan, Terry Brumley, Larry Atkins, Sr., Ray Gore, Jr. and Wes Golden. The family would like to thank Dr. James Woodard, nurses and staff of the 5th floor patient tower at Baptist Memorial Hospital – GT and 4th floor TCU at Baptist Memorial Hospital – GT for their loving and professional care. The family requests that donations be made to a charity or church of the donor's choice.
