Nettie Bernice Patterson, 88 of Columbus, MS passed away October 5, 2014 at her residence. Visitation will be Thursday, October 9, 2014 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. A graveside service will be Friday, October 10, 2014 at 10:00 AM at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery, Columbus, MS with Bro. Clint Parrish officiating and Lowndes Funeral Home directing. Mrs. Patterson was born March 16, 1926 to the late Marvin and Eunice Lancaster King in Gordo, AL and moved to Columbus 40 years ago from Birmingham, AL. She was employed with BellSouth as an operator and retired after 30 years of service. Mrs. Patterson was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Columbus, MS, loved working in her yard with her flowers and watching Law and Order on TV. She was preceded in death by her husband - James C. Patterson, son - James C. Patterson, Jr., daughter - Penny Doss, brother - Wilford King, mother - Eunice Lancaster King and father - Marvin King. Mrs. Patterson is survived by her sisters - Ruby King Alexander, West Chester, PA and Ottis King Smith, Jackson, MS; grandchildren - Tommy Doss, Scotty Doss, Eddie Doss and Brian Patterson, 11 great grandchildren and cousin Jane Anderson. Pallbearers will be Dwight Andrews, Larry Andrews, Wayne Eaves and Michael Anderson.
