Nikolai Martin Halvorsen, 77 of Columbus MS passed away Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle, Columbus MS. Visitation will be Friday, December 06, 2013 from 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. A funeral service will be Friday, December 06, 2013 at 2:00 PM in the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ron Delgado officiating. Interment will be in Friendship Cemetery, Columbus MS with Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus MS directing. Mr. Halvorsen was born Sunday, February 23, 1936 in Arlington SD to the late Nikolai and Marie Hoag Halvorsen. He moved to Columbus, MS in 1971 from Meridian, MS. Mr. Halvorsen retired in 1979 from United States Air Force as a Master Sergeant after 26 years of service and enjoyed flying. He attended the Lutheran Church. Mr. Halvorsen is survived by: Wife - Donna Halvorsen, Columbus, MS, Daughters - Vicki (Gaylon) Downs, Chris Dillon, Terry (James) Siegle, and Nikole Moffett, all of Columbus, MS, Brother - Alton Halvorsen, Wisconsin Dells, WI, Grandchildren - Matt Dillon, Scott Downs, Cody Downs, Tyler Dillon, Kenneth Downs, Great Grand Children - Dixie Downs, Elizabeth Downs, Daniel House, Damion Dillon, Ryley Downs, Raylyn Downs. Pallbearers will be - Scott Downs, Cody Downs, Matthew Dillon, Tyler Dillon, Austin Hacker, Ronald Butler and Honorary Pallbearer will be Kenneth Downs.
