Nora Inell "Nell" McGee, 93, of Columbus, MS passed away January 16, 2015 at Windsor Place, Columbus, MS. Visitation will be Monday, January 19, 2015 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM in the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Diane Lemmon officiating and Rev. Larry Shelton assisting. Interment will be at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Columbus, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home directing. Mrs. McGee was born September 30, 1921 in Reform, AL to the late Ina Wilkins and Jackson Shelton. She was married to Forrest McGee, Sr. for 62 years and was call Momma Gee by her family. Mrs. McGee was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Columbus, MS. She was an avid tennis player and played until the age of 73. Mrs. McGee enjoyed gardening and loved her family which were very important in her life. In addition to her parents, Mrs. McGee is preceded in death by her husband Forrest McGee, Sr. and 8 brothers and sisters. Mrs. McGee is survived by her daughter- Rebecca (Joe) Guest, Chattanooga, TN; sons- Jack (Rebecca) McGee, Columbus, MS and Forrest (Cynthia) McGee, Jr., Richmond, VA; grandchildren- Nicole (Nicholas) Watkins, Marcus McGee, Jerry Guest; great-grandchild- Logan Watkins; brother- Bobby Shelton, Reform, AL; sister- Nadine Dean, Millport, AL and a host of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be the nephews of Mrs. McGee. Honorary Pallbearers will be Angie Teague and the Support Staff of Philwood Suites at Windsor Place, Niece- Francis Shelton, Billy Joe Coggins, Nicholas Watkins, Keith McGee, Buddy Easley, Danny Coggins and Patrick Gard.
