Mrs. Johnson was born September 21, 1938, in Webster County, Mississippi to the late John Russell and Lillie Mae Latham Hill. She married Donald "Don" Ellis Johnson on July 1959 in West Point, MS. Mrs. Johnson was a member of Fairview Baptist Church in Columbus, MS where she served faithfully in numerous capacities including teaching, choir, serving as hostess, and costume/production support. Ora enjoyed spending time with family as it grew, always encouraging and proud of each accomplishment. As a mother of three active boys, she dedicated many years following their sports and band activities including keeping her own detailed records of every ballgame. Family camping trips, neighborhood gatherings, and game nights with friends were among her favorite pastimes. She worked 27 years in the Columbus Public School System in the Superintendents office before developing an interest in travel. She then formed her own business Ora Johnson Tours. There, she provided extensive bus travel experiences across the country for dozens of schools, churches, and senior adults. Each and every traveler was extended family to her and she approached every trip with a servant's heart. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law – Kim Johnson, sister - JoAnn Faulkner; brother - Robert "Bud" Hill.
Mrs. Johnson is survived by her husband of 62 years – Donald "Don" Ellis Johnson, Columbus, MS; sons – Donald "Gary" (Donna) Johnson, Daphne, AL, William "Keith" (Lisa) Johnson, Memphis, TN, and Michael "Mike" Hill Johnson, Columbus, MS; sister – Annie Merle (Wayne) Frazier, Greenville, MS; brothers – Ervin (Jean) Hill, Winona, MS and Earl (Pam) Hill, Houston, MS; 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
