Oscar Joseph Heubel, 70 of Vernon, AL passed away Tuesday evening, June 23 rd , 2020 at DCH Regional Medical Center, Tuscaloosa, AL. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Oscar was born August 2 nd , 1949 in Terre Haute, Indiana, to the late Walter and Cleo Taggert Heubel and their Family of six children, George, Walter, Carol, Joanna and Paul. He joined the United States Army after attending Gerst Myer High School with his friend and co-conspirator, Tommy Terstegge. He served overseas in both Korea and Germany before moving to Arizona a few years later, and beginning a family with Joyce Moore. After having two wonderful children, Jocelyn Ann and Dwayne Joseph, Oscar returned to Indiana and worked in maintenance for Riley Industries in Indianapolis. There he joined the Lynhurst Lodge and became a Free Mason. He began a lifelong career with Hydrite in 1991 in Terre Haute, traveling from Indiana to Wisconsin, where he met and married Carolyn Young in 1996. Upon retirement in 2015, he and Carolyn moved to Vernon, AL where they settled on two beautiful acres and took in any wildlife needing shelter. Oscar built a workshop where he tinkered with cars and woodworking and told many a story, building friendships and making people laugh. He worked at T&S Auto Parts in Vernon and Milltown Auto Parts in Sulligent for comradery and a little extra spending money to support his hobbies and never-ending list of little projects.
Oscar is survived by his wife, Carolyn, daughter, Jocelyn (Harold) Denny, grandchildren, Shianne, Harold and Aleah, and sisters Carole Elbrink and Joanna Hobgood.
