Othel D. Hagan, 89, of Columbus, MS passed away on October 2, 2017.

Services will be held on October 7, 2017, at 11:00 am at Covenant Methodist Church, 618 31st Ave. North, Columbus, with Reverend Ron Thomas officiating and Reverend Gene Bramlett assisting. Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery with Lowndes Funeral Home directing.  Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on October 6, 2017, at Lowndes Funeral Home.

Mr. Hagan was born in Vernon Parish, LA, on April 4, 1928, to the late Charlie B. Hagan and Mary F. (Hall) Hagan. SMSGT Hagan proudly wore the military uniform for 44 years, 24 years active duty in the Air Force and 20 years as an Air Force Junior ROTC instructor at the former Columbus Caldwell High School. Mr. Hagan was a Korean war veteran and a Vietnam era veteran.

SMSGT Hagan was a member of Caledonia Free Masons Lodge 280, Odd Fellows Lodge 35, the Air Force Sergeants Association, the Retired Sergeants Association, the American Legion, and the VFW.  After retirement, he loved to hunt, fish and play guitar.

Mr. Hagan is survived by his wife of 70 years Veronica (Ronnie) Hagan of Columbus, MS; three sons- Larry D. Hagan of Loveland, CO, Gary L. Hagan of Warwick, RI, and Kevin W. Hagan of Temple, GA; two grandchildren- Jennifer R. Hagan Rose of Westminster, CO, and James A. Hagan of Loveland, CO; one great-grandson- Andrew D. Hagan of Loveland, CO; four sisters- Janell Brooks, Marilyn Smith, Abigail Walters, all of Leesville, LA and Janice Kennedy of Simsport, LA.

Pallbearers & honor guard will be provided by Columbus Air Force Base. Honorary pallbearers will be Matthew Reeves, Buddy Baker, Don Janssen, James Alexander, Roy Harmon, Joe King, James Cumberland, and Doyle Spears.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Covenant United Methodist Church, 618 31 ^st Street North, Columbus, MS 39702.
