Obituary

Patricia Atkins McCullough, 79 of Millport, AL passed away Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at her residence.

Visitation will be Friday, September 6, 2024 from 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM at Springhill Baptist Church, Millport, AL.  A funeral service will follow at 5:00 PM with Bro. Andy Parrish officiating and Lee Merritt assisting.  Interment will be at Springhill Cemetery with Lowndes Funeral Home directing.

Pat was born March 19, 1945 in Lamar County, Al to the late Mayo Hobson Atkins and Estelle Pritchett Atkins.  She was a graduate of Millport High School and retired from Baptist Memorial Hospital – Golden Triangle where she worked as a phlebotomist in outpatient testing for 15 years.  Prior to working at the hospital, Pat worked for United Technology and Stevens Fashions. She was a member of Springhill Baptist Church.  Pat was an excellent seamstress, and gardener but traveling was her passion.  She traveled to Scotland, Ireland, Wales, France, Canada, Spain, Portugal, Morocco, Italy, Greece, Israel, Mexico as well as most US states including Hawaii and Alaska.  Even though her memory had failed somewhat, she could tell you details of trips and the things of the world she had experienced.  She enjoyed being with her granddaughters and was anticipating the soon arrival of her first great-granddaughter, Abigail Martin.  In addition to her parents, Pat was preceded in death by her husband – Dexter McCullough; son-in-law – Todd Smith; brothers – Dan Atkins and Joe Atkins.

Pat is survived by her daughters – Vickie (Terry) Goldsby and Dana Smith; son – Wade (Jan) McCullough; sisters – Martha Kidder, Columbus, MS,  Mary Ann Plyer, Columbus, MS, Kaye Robertson, Millport, AL; sister-in-law – Pat Atkins, Tuscaloosa, AL.; Grandchildren – Hannah (Jake) Liles, Kaileigh (Zachary) Bodle, Olivia (Jacob) Martin, Caroline (Zachary) Shanor; soon to be great-granddaughter – Abigail Brooke Martin.

Pallbearers will be Lee Merritt, Chad Robertson, Terry Fields, Bill Kidder, Tommy Graham, and Larry Robertson.

The family wants to give a special thanks to Alabama Hospice Care for the wonderful care they gave to our mom and grandmother during the past 8 months.
